What is CSEE?
The CSEE administers the Certificate of Secondary Education Examination. This is a performance test given to candidates who have completed four years of secondary education. The CSEE is administered in the first week of November every year.
The objectives of this exam are to assess the knowledge and skills students acquired in various subjects in secondary school and to determine the extent to which students can use the knowledge they have acquired to solve social, political, economic and technological challenges for their own personal development and the nation as a whole; to identify students who are capable of continuing to the upper secondary level or joining training institutions. The CSEE holder is expected to be able to use his/her knowledge, understanding, application, analysis, synthesis and evaluation skills in various activities.
National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA)
NECTA is a Government Institution established by Act of Parliament Number 21 of 1973. It is responsible for administering all National Examinations in Tanzania.
Explanation of the ‘Codes’ Used by NECTA in Examination Results
* Q: Results have been suspended pending clarification of deficiencies observed in the candidates’ entry details, involvement in irregularities, or examination misconduct. Results have been suspended due to centres or schools failing to meet registration requirements (i.e. centres with less than 35 candidates).
* E: Results withheld, pending confirmation of candidates’ payment of the required Examination fees.
* I: INCOMPLETE results due to candidates missing Continuous Assessment (CA) marks in all subjects offered.
I: Incomplete results are due to candidates missing Continuous Assessment (CA) marks in one or more subjects offered, but not all.
* W: Results have been withheld/cancelled or cancelled due to the candidate’s proven involvement in cases of dishonesty or law violations before, during, or after the examinations.
* T: Results for a specific subject are carried forward to the previous year after the candidate is confirmed to have an illness during the exam.
ABS: The candidate failed to take the Exam.
FLD: The candidate failed the exam.
X : The candidate did not appear for the exam for a particular registered subject.

The NECTA website is the main platform for checking results. Follow these steps:

- Go to the Results Section:
- On the home page, click on the “Results” tab.
- Select “CSEE Results.”
